AFTER THE RAIN

Jack Tempchin

Well it's been so dry in this this county now
You feel it crawling on your skin
We're coming apart like the cracking ground
And no one knows if it will end
Every eye's looking toward the sky
Watching with thirsty souls
All just waiting for clouds to come
Praying for thunder to roll

But the land just dries up and blows away
It's got no heart within
We just can't get anything to grow
Either outside or in
The well is dry there's no tears to cry
And no way to make things change
But it sure is gonna feel better
After the Rain

After the Rain
After the Rain
After the Rain
After the Rain

Well there's no been no love in this life I've been living
I know for way too long
It's been bone dry just getting by
And telling myself I'm strong
But I met this girl who makes flowers grow
In a dusty dried out plain
And it sure is gonna feel better
After the Rain

After the Rain
After the Rain
After the Rain
After the Rain

Ou, I want to feel it all over my skin
Ou, I can't wait for it to begin

When all you've got to hang on to
Is the hope of a desperate man
You try not to think how far you've come
Or how much more you can stand

But I smell blue water in the wind tonight
Gonna put out this burning flame
And it sure is gonna feel better
After the Rain

After the Rain
After the Rain
After the Rain
After the Rain
